Monday Musings

Out in my yard today... sunny and a bit breezy, 30 degrees according to my thermometer.  We have been having unseasonably warm weather for the past several weeks and my yard is a bit confused.  When my husband was taking down the outside Christmas lights a couple of weeks ago he discovered several clumps of emerging daffodils!  Several of the trees and bushes have broken bud and I found this today...

little peaches on my peach tree!  In the middle of January!  Are you kidding me?!  I found a least a dozen of these tiny guys.

Dear Mother Nature,

Just a friendly reminder that it is still winter and everything is supposed to be hibernating for a few more weeks.  I'd really like to have a beautiful yard and great harvest this year, so could you please get everything back on track for me?  Thanks!

Signed,

Freaking out in southern Idaho

I'm grateful for... blue skies, random acts of kindness, a new perspective, and a husband who demonstrates his love for me.  Last night he endured watching the Golden Globe awards just so he could spend some time with me.  I heart him!

One of my favorite things... is standing next to my girls during church and listening to them sing.  Sometimes I stop singing just so I can hear them better.  And sometimes we split into three-part harmony... pure joy for this mama!

This week I'm reading... Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah.

"...a powerful, heartbreaking novel that illuminates the intricate mother-daughter bond and explores the enduring links between the present and the past." (Goodreads)

I tend to gravitate towards books with a mother-daughter theme.  Perhaps because I'm still coming to terms with some stuff from my childhood OR because I'm the mother of daughters.  Either way, I probably need therapy.

I'm looking forward to... the Moms group that I lead starting up again this Thursday!  We have been on hiatus since the week before Thanksgiving and I am so ready to see everyone again!  Our topic will be "The Contemporary Virtuous Woman- Fresh, Focused, and Fabulous!"  We will be considering what  the Proverbs 31 woman would look like in the 21st century.  I have been working on this since November and I am so excited to share what God has placed in my heart.

Simple life tip for the week... "We must substitute courage for caution."~ Martin Luther King, Jr.  Today is the day we honor this great man who truly lived a life of courage.  Such an amazing legacy, a life of courage

Daring to dream that the seemingly impossible is possible.  Embracing faith rather than fear.  Choosing to hope when all appears hopeless.

We often think of courage as being required for some big, heroic something.  I'm convinced that just choosing to get up each morning and show up for our lives is one of the most courageous things we will ever do.

So, whatever it might look like for you, be courageous this week!
